There's something seriously wrong with us......

Look at the stuff we consider so goddam beautiful, dating I
suspect from the Romantic Movement influence on art.

Mountains that are barren rock and ice and snow.
Howling deserts, yeah they got interesting colors, so what?
Yellowstone - with its scalding pools and geysers and multi-
colored alkaline pools and more snowcapped uninhabitable
peaks, its a hellish picture.

Antarctica. Mount Everest (well, at least there the attraction
is can you survive this incredible test).

And assorted landscapes that are, let's face it, UNINHABITABLE.
There's nothing much if anything to eat. Water is mostly
unavailable. Not much cover. (Dense forests are a bit better.)
So you got no protection from the winds and the temperature
plunge at night.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH US THAT WE LIKE THIS
STUFF?

I have found it attractive also, and I have learned not to trust
myself.

Now we got surreal artist depictations of planets and moons
that are, as usual, death quick or slow for anyone who goes
there.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?!

Why do we like this stuff? Even the native primitive types
don't hang out in such places that much, maybe visit near
for some hunting. Some such places are considered cursed
or haunted or whatever, makes more sense.
